Roadmap

What I’m working on, and what I’m considering.

A direction, not a promise

FlowReactor is built by one developer, mostly by using it every day and adding what’s missing. Plans change, so buy FlowReactor for what it does today.

Have an idea, or want something moved up? Email it. Every message is read, and suggestions really do change the order.

Working on now

  • OpenAPI import

Create an HTTP API simulator from an OpenAPI spec, with a route and an example response for each operation.

    APIs
  • Scenarios

Save named sets of service behavior, such as “payment API down” or “slow database”, and switch between them in one click.

    Workflow

Next

  • OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect

A local identity provider that signs in test users and issues tokens, for applications that use OAuth or OIDC.

    Identity and secrets
  • S3-compatible storage

Create buckets and objects, inspect SDK calls, and test slow or failed uploads and downloads.

    Storage
  • SQS and SNS

Send, receive and inspect messages on local queues and topics, and test delayed or failed deliveries.

    Messaging
  • Redis

Inspect the commands your application sends to Redis, and test timeouts and errors.

    Databases
  • Webhooks

Send webhook requests to your application, replay them, and see how it handles each one.

    APIs
  • Email inbox

A local SMTP server that catches the email your application sends, so you can read it without anything reaching a real inbox.

    Email and SMS

Considering

  • GraphQL

Inspect queries and mutations, and mock responses for individual operations.

    APIs
  • gRPC

Inspect calls and mock responses for gRPC services.

    APIs
  • WebSocket

Inspect messages in both directions, and send messages to your application.

    APIs
  • SQL Server

Inspect queries, add delays and return errors, as you can for PostgreSQL and MySQL.

    Databases
  • MongoDB

Inspect commands, add delays and return errors.

    Databases
  • RabbitMQ

Inspect and control messages between your application and RabbitMQ.

    Messaging
  • Kafka

Produce, consume and inspect messages on local topics.

    Messaging
  • Azure Service Bus

Send, receive and inspect messages on local queues and topics.

    Messaging
  • Amazon EventBridge

Inspect the events your application publishes, and send events to it.

    Messaging
  • Azure Blob Storage

Create containers and blobs, inspect SDK calls and test failed transfers.

    Storage
  • AWS Parameter Store and Secrets Manager

Serve parameters and secrets locally, and test what happens when one is missing.

    Identity and secrets
  • Azure Key Vault

Serve secrets locally, and test missing or expired ones.

    Identity and secrets
  • SMS

Catch the text messages your application sends, including verification codes.

    Email and SMS
  • DNS

Answer DNS lookups with addresses you choose, and test lookups that fail or time out.

    Network
  • Record and replay

Capture traffic through a proxy, then replay it as a simulator.

    Workflow
  • Command line

Run a project without opening the window, for automated tests and CI.

    Workflow
  • Export activity

Save captured requests to a file, to attach to a bug report or share with a teammate.

    Workflow
  • macOS

    A FlowReactor build for Macs.
